Interview
Hi my name is Diogo Teixeira and my group and I were assigned with the topic of “Institutions and the Media”. Today I´m going to interview Mário Teixeira, an engineering student from ISEP who was kind enough to accept my invitation.
1.What do you know about institutions?
Well, not much really. I do know that they are organized structures, like companies that can, or not control some form of media.
2. Can you name some of the biggest Portuguese institutions?
Sure! Here in Portugal we have NOS and Meo when it comes to TV and Phone service. Even Vodafone, who started by being a phone service as grown into a TV service aswell. Sonae, who owns Continente, they are a major player in Portugal.
3. Do you think Institutions influence the media? And if so, why?
Yes of course. Well, they manipulate the media in order to get people to buy their products, through advertising and other means. I think they bombard us every day with lots of ads on tv and on the internet.
