Institutions Conglomerates

“A conglomerate is the combination of two or more corporations engaged in entirely different businesses that fall under one corporate group, usually involving a parent company and many subsidiaries. Often, a conglomerate is a multi-industry company. Conglomerates are often large and multinational.” - Wikipedia

Nowadays, we live in a world controlled by institutions. They are simply everywhere. On TV, on the internet, on the newspapers, all around us. But how do they manage that? Well, sometimes a group of institutions merge to form a larger institution, called a conglomerate.

A great example of this, its 21st Century Fox. This american conglomerate is perhaps best known for cinema, but do not let that fool you, for they are much more. The cinema studio 20th Century Fox is just one of many subsidiaries of the conglomerate. Apart from that they also own: Blue Sky Studios; 20th Century Fox Television; Fox Star Studios, India; Fox; FX Network; Fox News Channel and many more companies. With a wide array of companies, a conglomerate can reach practically anywhere they want, and control different types of media.

In conclusion, we can understand the need for this “conglomerates” to exist because, by doing so they will reach people all over the world, due to their sheer size and power.
